So Why Linux?
Linux evolved from Unix, the acknowledged standard for robust networking protocols, now adopted by Novell.  Linux adds new dimensions to this reliable environment providing seamless connectivity to virtually every version and iteration of the various Windows operating systems. It features TRUE uncompromised mulit-tasking when speed and reliability are critical.

The combination of Linux and Windows is an unbeatable combination for security applications that can't be dependent on the idiosynchracies of Windows alone. When an access control event occurs, like a card transaction or an alarm, Linux processes everything in less than 30 milliseconds, a response time much faster than Windows can handle because of all the tasks it is typically running concurrently. So no matter what is happening in Windows, even if it is shut down, the Linux based Network Controller is unaffected.

The Linux based Network Controller uses a 128 MB Flash Card acting as a hard drive. Another hard drive is in virtual memory which permits high speed access control buss network processing at rates much faster than any physical hard drive could possibly deliver. If there is ever a problem with the flash card, it can be changed in minutes in the field.

Linux networking offers full Windows 2000 and XP authentication and security. A Linux controller looks just like a Windows 2000/XP PC to Windows.  The Toye Corporation Linux Based Network Controller provides seamless networking to MS Windows LAN's or WAN's. The Network Controller looks just like a Windows 2000/XP PC, so LAN Administrators can easily deal with it on their networks.

The Linux networking for the Toye N.C. is set up at the factory prior to shipment, so very little knowledge of Linux is needed by the dealer or the end user. If there are any changes needed with the networking, a modem option is available, so Toye or the dealer can dial in and make setup changes for the customer with a dialup phone line.

All new shipments of N.C.'s will use the Linux operating system. Upgrade orders for existing systems are STRONGLY encouraged, since the performance of the new software is DRAMATICALLY more reliable, and MUCH faster than previous versions of the software. Most existing N.C.'s can be upgraded at a very moderate cost.
